23/05/2012
headspace is a major supporter of The West
Australian Music Industry Association's 'WAM Song of the
Year 2012' competition this year.
WAM Song of the Year is a prestigious songwriting competition
open to unpublished West Australian songwriters of all ages and
levels of experience, offering more than $30,000 in prizes. There
are a range of categories/genres where artists can enter their
songs.
The Mental Health Commission of WA is the
presentation partner for the competition and the 'Mentally Healthy'
category sponsor. This special category allows songwriters to share
songs dealing with positive messages relating to mental health. The
message for WAM Song of the Year 2012 is "Music talks about
mental health, so can you."
The awards night will take place on Thursday 11 October during
Mental Health Week, helping to raise awareness of the benefits of
creative activities such as songwriting to people's mental
health
The competition is independently, industry judged on songwriting
qualities alone, with the winner of each category also placed in
the running for the WAM Song of the Year Grand Prize.
Entries for the 2012 WAM Song of the Year
competition open Monday 30 April, and close 5:00pm Monday
30 July, 2012.
