headspace Illawarra Youth Health Centre is a
new place where you can find out about healthy living and link in
with groups and services in the community that focus on your
wellbeing.
For the times when things aren't going so great in your life,
you can get help from people who care about and are sensitive to
your needs and are experts in their field.
If you are aged 12-25, you can come to
headspace Illawarra Youth Health Centre if you
need to see a doctor for any kind of health issue.
If you are having trouble dealing with your emotions, are
feeling depressed or anxious, or need someone to talk to about
drinking or taking other kinds of drugs, or anything else going on
in your life, there are a range of people, including youth workers,
counsellors, legal advisers, doctors and psychologists who can
help.
We'll also help link you into education, training and employment
programs, or help you if you have housing issues.

Doctor available, Tuesday to Friday
If you don't have your own family doctor (GP) you can see one of
our male or female GPs for:
- information on how to keep healthy
- a general check up
- sexual health information, advice and check ups, contraception
and pregnancy support
- diet and exercise information and advice
- any other physical concern
You can also talk to a GP about
- any of your feelings, even if you're not sure what's going on
or what the problem is
- drinking or taking other kinds of drugs
You can make an appointment, or drop in on the days a GP is
here.
Cost: It won't cost you anything as long
as you have a Medicare Card. If you don't have your own card,
we can find out your number from Medicare (without anyone else
knowing) or help you get your own card if you are 15 or over.
Youth Workers - Monday to Friday
If you just want to talk about what's going on in your life,
want help with housing, employment, education or training, legal
issues or information about other services for young people in the
Illawarra.
You can make and appointment or drop in on Monday to Friday
between 9am and 5pm.
Cost: Free of charge
Psychologists, Mental Health Nurses, Drug & Alcohol
Workers, Family Support Workers
Expert help is available if you have a mental health or
substance use problem that is having an impact on your life and
others around you. Your care is coordinated through
headspace, making sure all your care needs are
taken into consideration.
By appointment only.
Cost: Free of charge with a Medicare card or
Medicare number.
