About
Welcome to headspace Mparntwe Alice Springs!
headspace provides free and confidential support to all young people aged 12–25.
We’re here to help with mental health and wellbeing, alcohol and other drugs, physical and sexual health, and work and study. Whether something feels big or small, you can contact us to talk about what support might be right for you.
You can contact us yourself, or ask a parent, carer, friend, school, GP, or other trusted person to help you connect with us. At your first appointment, we’ll take time to understand what is happening for you and work with you on your goals.
We want every young person to feel welcome, respected, and safe when accessing support. We value the diverse cultures, identities, experiences, sexualities, gender identities, faiths, and abilities of young people in our community.

If you need immediate help
If you or someone else is in immediate danger, or there is an immediate risk of harm, call 000 or go to the Alice Springs Hospital Emergency Department, which is open 24 hours a day.
Waiting for an appointment
At headspace, we will do our best to connect you with the right clinician as soon as possible.
You can usually see one of our doctors within a few weeks after we receive your completed referral. It may take longer to be allocated to a mental health clinician.
If your situation changes, you are feeling worse, or you become concerned about your safety while waiting, please contact us. We can review your needs and talk with you about the most appropriate support.
Single Session Therapy
To help young people receive support sooner, headspace Alice offers two Single Session Therapy (SST) appointments on each day the centre is open.
SST is a focused appointment with a mental health clinician. You can use the session to talk about one main concern, explore practical strategies, and make a plan for what happens next. For some young people, one focused session may be enough to help them move forward. Others may need further or ongoing support.
SST may be available while you are waiting to be allocated to a clinician. Ask our team whether an SST appointment may be suitable for you. Appointments are subject to availability.
SST is not a crisis or emergency service.

Is the role paid?
YRG membership is voluntary. Members receive a gift card or voucher at each monthly meeting in recognition of their time and contribution.
Some additional projects or events may be paid opportunities. We also organise social and team-building activities, such as dinners or bowling.
