About

headspace supports young people aged 12 - 25 years with mental health, physical health, drug & alcohol, educational & vocational support.

All of our services are FREE.

We have relocated to a new, purpose-built space designed to be more welcoming, inclusive, and accessible for young people, families, and the community.  

We are providing the same great support in a new and improved location.  Our new home at Level 1, 20 Dawson Street North, provides more space and a fresh environment for young people to connect with our team.

Physical Health Services

You don't need to be a headspace Ballarat client to access these clinics.

FREE GP Clinic:
Wednesday evenings 5:00-7:00pm.
Medicare bulk-billed, by appointment only.

FREE Sexual Health Clinic:
Every Wednesday and fortnightly Thursdays
BOOK ONLINE or call 5304 4777.
Walk-ins accepted subject to availability.

 

Group Programs

DBT Skills Group

What the program will cover:
Tools to manage emotions, handle impulsive behaviour, understand yourself better, and improve relationships with friends and family.

Program details
When: Tuesdays for 6 weeks, commencing 10 February 2026
Time: 4:30-6:30pm
Where: headspace Ballarat, Level 1, 20 Dawson Street North, Ballarat Central
Cost: Free
Eligibility: Young people aged 14-18 years
Parent/carer involvement: A parent or carer is required to attend Week 4 (Walking the Middle Path), which focuses on communication skills between adolescents and caregivers
Requirements: Young people are expected to attend all six sessions.

Neurospace

Neurospace is a social club aimed at providing a safe space for 18 - 25 year old neurodivergent young adults to build social connections and friendships.

We are now accepting expressions of interest to attend Neurospace!

Over the 6 weeks we will be expressing our identities and creativity through scrap booking, collaging and creating mood boards.

Week 1 – Thurs 19th Feb / 5pm – 6pm

Week 2 - Thurs 26th Feb / 5pm - 6pm

Week 3 - Thurs 5th March / 5pm - 6pm

headspace Ballarat is operated by Ballarat Community Health. All headspace services are funded by the Australian Government Department of Health and Aged Care. Administration of funding is carried out by the headspace centre’s local Primary Health Network, in this case, Western Victoria (Western Victoria PHN).

Services

Nutrition screening, dietary assessment and education about food and lifestyle, also support around healthy eating strategies.

Mental health workers – which may include psychologists, psychiatrists, counsellors and other workers – that can help if you're just not feeling yourself.

Sexual health screenings on site or links to local services. 

Workers either on site or linked to the centre who can assist you with work or study opportunities. 

Get tips on how to prepare your resume and present for interviews. Find out about local employment opportunities (full time, part-time, or casual).

GPs can help with any physical health issues as well as issues related to sexual health, drug or alcohol use, relationship problems or feeling down or upset. Your centre may have a GP on site or links to one locally. 

Workers either on site or linked to the centre who can assist you with any alcohol or other drug concern.

A group of young people who help with events and some decision making at a centre. Ask your centre about getting involved.

Our consortium

The consortium is assisted by the Ballarat community of interest consisting of various organisations who will contribute to headspace Ballarat.

2. We will contact you
We will contact you to arrange a suitable time for an intake and assessment appointment.  Please be patient this may take a few days. If you feel its more urgent or, if takes longer than 1 week - call us on 5304 4777.

3. Intake & Assessment Appointment
Meet an intake worker for an hour, they will give you info, ask you lots of questions and answer any you might have.

headspace Ballarat's sexual health nurse visits every Wednesday from 9am to 4pm. Anyone aged 12-25years can access our service free from any judgement or stigma and confidentiality is paramount!

headspace is bulk billing service.

Walk-in appointments are available.

  • Discussions relating to cervical screening.
  • Cervical screening
  • Contraception use
  • Discussions in sexual relationships
  • Unplanned pregnancies and referral pathways
  • Checking vaccination status
  • Discussions in relation to hep A, hep B, hep C and HIV and AIDS and testing available.

Peer Support Workers are non-clinical mental health workers.  Peer workers can aid in identifying, understanding, and achieving your goals.

YRG meet regularly to create ideas, plan & provide feedback on a range of things to ensure headspace Ballarat is doing its best for our local young people of Ballarat.

Being involved in headspace Ballarat's YRG gives you the opportunity to be heard and be active around youth health, mental health, alcohol and other drug issues.
You can be involved in:

  • Lead projects, campaigns & events
