Do I have to have a diagnosed condition to come to headspace Fremantle?

You do not need to be diagnosed with a mental health condition to access our services, although our centre can assist those who may be dealing with one. If you are having difficulties with school, work, personal or family relationships, or anything else, our services can provide you with support.

How can I refer a friend or family member to headspace Fremantle?

If you wish to refer someone to our centre, you will need to make sure that the young person is aware that you have referred them, and is willing to meet with a member from the headspace Fremantle team. The best option is to encourage or support the young person to call our centre and self refer. If they are not comfortable doing this you can call with them, or call on their behalf but a worker may ask that the young person speak with them briefly over the phone to confirm they give consent to access the service.

How can I help my child, friend or family member who needs support?

Besides referring the young person to headspace or helping them to access our services, you can also check out the headspace website which has heaps of great information on helping those around you. If you are concerned about your child or someone you care for, we are able to offer the services of Helping Minds who provide counselling for parents, families, and carers one day a week at headspace Fremantle. Please contact us on 9431 7453 or info@headspacefreo.com.au to book an appointment.

What do I do if a friend or family member says they don't need help (but I think they do)?

headspace is a consent-based service which means that the young person must be willing to engage with us. We do try our best to engage with young people who can benefit from our services which is why we have group programs that are not clinical in nature. This can be a good way of helping a young person to realise that headspace is a safe, youth-friendly place.

We may also suggest eheadspace.org.au which assists young people and gives specialist support to parents and carers who are worried about a young person. This service is easily accessible and may accommodate the needs of the young person greatly if they feel more comfortable talking to someone online or over the phone. This service is available from 9am-1am (AEST) seven days a week at Online & Phone Support. It is a great resource for young people who are not yet ready to see someone face-to-face. If you need further advice, please contact us and we will do what we can to help.

How much does it cost to see someone?

All our services are easily accessible and completely FREE of charge.
