headspace Goulburn is operated by Grand Pacific Health. All headspace centres are funded by the Australian Government Department of Health. Administration of funding is carried out by the headspace centre’s local Primary Health Network, in this case, South Eastern NSW PHN.

headspace Goulburn offers a range of health services for young people aged 12-25 years. Our staff are friendly and approachable with lots of experience helping young people set goals and overcome challenges.

Mental Health Services

Mental health workers – which may include psychologists, psychiatrists, counsellors and other workers – that can help if you're just not feeling yourself.

GPs can help with any physical health issues as well as issues related to sexual health, drug or alcohol use, relationship problems or feeling down or upset. Your centre may have a GP on site or links to one locally.

headspace Goulburn, Wollongong and Nowra centres are currently looking to increase the number of GPs working out of the centres.

headspace centres offer free youth health services for young people aged 12-25 years. The centre employs a multidisciplinary team of psychologists, counsellors, youth workers, GPs and other staff to support the health and wellbeing of young people with a focus on mental health.

Working as a member of the headspace team offers GPs the opportunity to provide bulk-billed services to young people as part of a collaborative and holistic model of care, in an environment that encourages the development of ongoing and therapeutic relationships with clients and multidisciplinary case consultation.

Grand Pacific Health (GPH) is the lead agency for three headspace centres in Wollongong, Nowra and Goulburn, as well as operating two GP super clinics in Shell Cove and Nowra. As a member of the broader GPH team you will receive the support available as part of a large not for profit primary health organisation that operates across the Illawarra, Shoalhaven and Southern NSW region.

Grand Pacific Health as lead agency for headspace Goulburn provides support to young people aged 12-25 experiencing mild to moderate mental health issues. The multidisciplinary team at the centre works to improve health, social and vocational/educational outcomes through providing 4 core streams of support: mental health, drug and alcohol, vocation/education/training and primary/sexual health.

headspace Goulburn is seeking a Mental Health Clinician (intern) to join our team who has an interest and passion for working with young people. The successful applicant will be working towards full registration with AHPRA as a psychologist, an occupational therapist working towards accreditation with OTA as meeting the Australian Competency Standards for occupational therapists in mental health or a social worker working towards accreditation with the AASW as a mental health social worker.

This position is a great opportunity to work towards completing your general registration pathway, or starting your clinical career. You will be confident in providing evidence-based assessments and interventions and is suited to someone who is confident in their ability to learn and want to work within a supportive, multidisciplinary team. You will be supported on the job by our service manager and provided opportunity for clinical supervision from an appropriate internal of external supervisor. The role is planned as part-time to allow you time to also complete your internship competencies, but hours can increase as need arises. The position is suitable for both general and clinical graduates.

This position is full-time or part-time negotiable at 30 or 22 ½ hours per week and for a fixed term until 31 December 2018 with possibility for extension.

headspace Goulburn's LGBTIQ+ youth group is for ages 15-21, and meets every 2nd and 4th Friday of the month from 4pm-6pm.

Youth Reference Group (YRG) meetings are held on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of every month, from 5pm-6pm. For ages 16-25. Our first meeting for 2018 will be on Thursday 25 January.

headspace Goulburn is a free, youth-friendly and confidential service for young people aged 12-25 years.

Led by Grand Pacific Health, headspace Goulburn brings together a range of services to provide a holistic “one-stop-shop” for young people. Our services include: 

  • Mental Health Support – Youth Counsellors, Youth Workers and other Mental Health Professionals 
  • Drug and Alcohol Support 
  • Education and Employment Support
  • Physical Health and Sexual Health Support  (watch this space)

headspace Goulburn is not an acute mental health/crisis service. HOW TO REFER:
Self-Referral: Young people are encouraged to make contact with headspace Goulburn directly. Call (02) 4824 4944 within office hours or email info@headspacegoulburn.org.au. A worker will contact the young person to make a phone intake appointment within 1-3 days.   

Drop in: Young people can call into headspace Goulburn (13-17 Verner Street) between 9am-5pm, Monday-Friday. Staff will endeavour to see the young person the same day, or the next available appointment will be offered.   

Professional Referral: GP’s, Allied Health Professionals, community-based agencies and educational institutions can all refer young people to headspace Goulburn using the Service Providers Referral Form. General Practitioners should include a mental health care plan (if appropriate) for the young person and attach this to the headspace Goulburn referral form.

Family Referral: Families, carers or friends can refer a young person to headspace Goulburn. The young person needs to be aware of and consent to the referral and be willing to meet with a member from the headspace Goulburn team. Once receipt of referral has been confirmed, a worker will contact the young person within one to three working days to make an appointment. Families, parents or carers who have a young person engaged with headspace Goulburn can also access our centre to discuss service provision.
