headspace Tamworth is operated by Centacare New England North West. All headspace centres are funded by the Australian Government Department of Health. Administration of funding is carried out by the headspace centre’s local Primary Health Network, in this case, Hunter New England and Central Coast (HNECC LTD).

Please note that headspace Tamworth will be closed from Thursday 5pm 29.3.2018 and will reopen on Tuesday the 3.4.2018 at 3.45 pm.

Services available



Nutrition screening, dietary assessment and education about food and lifestyle, also support around healthy eating strategies.

Mental Health Services


Mental health workers – which may include psychologists, psychiatrists, counsellors and other workers – that can help if you're just not feeling yourself.

Doctor (GP)


GPs can help with any physical health issues as well as issues related to sexual health, drug or alcohol use, relationship problems or feeling down or upset. Your centre may have a GP on site or links to one locally. 

Alcohol & Drug Services


Workers either on site or linked to the centre who can assist you with any alcohol or other drug issue. 

Work & Study Services


Workers either on site or linked to the centre who can assist you with work or study opportunities. 

Youth Reference Group


A group of young people who help with events and some decision making at a centre. Ask your centre about getting involved.

Youth Programs


Centres have a range of programs and activities for young people. Just ask your centre what they have on.

There are a number of different ways to access headspace Tamworth.

 It can be with or without a formal referral by yourself, friend, family member or partner.           

You can also use a referral from a GP or other health professional.

It may be necessary to have a medicare card for some services ( this can be your parents/carers card if you are listed) if not you can apply for your own at

Do you want to have a say about young people and mental health?

Well come an join our headspace Tamworth Youth Reference Group!!


headspace is providing young people with the opportunity to be heard and be active around youth  mental health and alcohol and other drug issues. There are a number of roles you can play in a headspace local reference group, including:

-          Leading a project in your local area

-          Website consultation and development

-          Research and evaluation of headspace services

-          Consultation around resource development such as, fact sheets, brochures, radio ads etc

-          Peer support and mentoring

-          Media spokes person

By getting involved you will:

-          Have the opportunity to have your say and direct youth mental health services in Australia

-          Develop new skills

-          Meet and work with other young people who are passionate about youth mental health

-          Make a difference to youth mental health
