headspace Day 2023 with headspace Townsville

On Saturday 7th of October, headspace Townsville celebrated national headspace day with the local community at the Riverway Skatepark.

The 2023 headspace day event was a huge success with over 100 people in attendance. We had great engagement with our graffiti wall and puppies from Angel Paws - with some young people admitting that they were only here for the adorable puppies!

We had around 16 stalls from local Townsville community organisations. Some of the incredible organisations that attended included Queensland Youth Services, Townsville Youth Council, Townsville Multicultural Support Group, LGBTI QPS Liaison Officers, Youth Share House, Kindness Catalyst, Teachers West Rugby Union Club, Lives Lived Well and Towns Villians Roller Derby.

Our amazing center manager, Steven promoted the event with three local radio stations (shout out to Triple M Townsville, Power100 and ABC Radio!). We also had the Townsville Bulletin drop by to speak to our center manager and members from our Youth Advisory Committee (YAChT)

Lots of young people were thrilled to enter our lucky door prize for their chance to snag a scooter. The scooter (generously donated by Cre8ive Sk8 Townsville) was won by a mother of two boys. The boys took the scooter straight to the skatepark to give it a test run!

Thank you to the Townsville community for coming out and enjoying a wonderful day in the sun with us, to raise awareness for youth mental health supports. 

So many people stated that they would be back to celebrate headspace day next year – and we can’t wait to do it all again!
