headspace Townsville invites you to join us for headspace Day 2023!

headspace Townsville invites the local community to come together to empower young people, their family and friends to take steps towards better mental health and wellbeing.  

The youth mental health organisation will be hosting a community event to celebrate national headspace Day on Saturday 7th of October.

headspace day is a national day of support for the mental health and wellbeing of all young Australians.

 

This free event will take place on Saturday 7th October, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm at the Riverway Skatepark. Attendees will enjoy a variety of activities including art and music, as well as a free sausage sizzle, information and giveaways. 

Young people will also have the chance to enter the lucky door prize to win a scooter from Cre8ive Sk8 Townsville.

headspace Townsville is operated by Stride Mental Health and is supported by funding from the Australian Government through Northern Queensland Primary Health Network. 

Regional Manager and spokesperson for Stride,Ash Simpsonsaid “We’re thrilled to have the support of so many incredible local organisations this headspace Day. Their contributions reflect the strong community spirit of Townsville.

“It’s important for headspace Townsville and our Youth Advisory Committee (YAChT) that we work with others who share the same values and desire; to help young people be the best versions of themselves and thrive.”

headspace Townsville will be joined by a line-up of community organisations offering valuable information, resources and activities. Some of the organisations with stalls at the event include:

  • Angel Paws: Promoting the therapeutic benefits of interactions with animals.
  • Townsville Youth Council: Providing a platform for young voices to engage in local decision-making.
  • Popfest: Celebrating local youth talent in the performing arts.
  • Youth Share House: Providing accommodation and support for young people in need.
  • Lives Lived Well: Offering support for people impacted by alcohol and drugs.
  • Queensland Youth Service: Supporting young people in finding housing and employment solutions.
  • Canteen: Supporting young people impacted by cancer.

 

From puppies, lucky door prizes, free slushies and graffiti walls – this headspace Day has something for everyone! Come on down to the Riverway Skatepark for a headspace day to remember.

The event aims to raise awareness about youth mental health and the importance of early intervention supports. headspace Townsville is dedicated to creating an environment where young people feel supported, valued, and empowered to seek help when needed.

“headspace Townsville is here to help young people to navigate the many things that impact their mental, social and emotional wellbeing. Everything from lifestyle, to work and study, relationships, gender identity and connection to country and community” explains Mr Simpson.

Young people aged 12 to 25, as well as their family and friends, can visit headspace Townsville for support. headspace provides free, confidential health services to young people with key focus areas of mental health, alcohol and other drugs, education and employment support, and physical and sexual health.
